  2. WOWSERS!!! That's quite a giveaway! You, missus, rock!!

My most embarrassing moment involved patting someone's ample stomach and asking when was she due to find out that she wasn't actually pregnant. *blinks* In my defence she's been asking lots of questions about where I'd got various baby-related things. I just assumed.....mortification ensued!!

  3. Hmm...that quote's bugging me (step away from Mr. Google!) Is it from Modern Family or something?

  5. Awesome giveaway! Most embarrassing moment? I try to avoid those!! It was definitely embarrassing when I texted my boss instead of my boyfriend...but I'll keep those details private! :)ky

  6. Luckily, I don't have to type mine out, I wrote a blog post about it! My embarrassing moment can be found here: http://kelbysews.blogspot.com/2010/07/here-it-goes.html

Great giveaway girl! Thanks for the shout out! :)

  7. Well, you know I want to win. Not only is your loot amazing but the idea of you sewing a pillow for me!!! Heck yeah I wanna win!!!!!

OK one of many embarrassing moments...I was driving back from TN (to Michigan) many years ago with some friends and we got to about Ohio and were faced with a traffic jam. It lasted FOREVER. There was a carload of cute guys behind us for a long time. We flirted a little and then I got a brilliant idea!! I mooned them just as the traffic started moving (thinking I would never see them again). We stopped at a rest stop shortly afterward and so did they and guess what.....they were from my neighboring town in Michigan!!! I could have died!!!

  8. Oooh, custom order? How fab! Thanks for the chance to win.

Now, most embarassing moment. Um, I make a fool of myself quite often, with an open-mouth-insert-both-feet habit that's hard to break, but the most embarassing might have been when I got mentioned in the bride's father's speech at my best friend's wedding as the one that caused them to find out 2 weeks before my friend and her now husband were set to announce it - oops! (To be fair, it was one of those situations where none of the parties involved could have anticipated what happened, it being one of those one person tells the next person who tells the next person sorts of things, with people that wouldn't normally ever speak!)

  9. And it was Cameron in Modern Family that said it (apparently!)

  10. I made the daftest mistake of giving birth at the hospital I work in. Which led to being naked from the chest down awaiting a C-section and looking up into the face of one of the theatre managers who I had several run ins with! I am back at work and still can't look him in the eye knowing he has seen me in the buff :)

  11. LOL...I am only commenting ONE time because I remember the quote from Modern Family, but seriously can't remember who actually said it. As for funny (yeah, not doing embarrassing, it involves child birth. Nuff said?). Hmmm, well, a lot of my funnies you really have to know the people involved. So, I will try with this one...from when I first started quilting (this on some levels is embarrassing too...LOL) My SIL (who pretty much taught me long distance) insists I must pull out the iron. I pull it out, plug it in to see if it works (lotta wash and wear around here...LOL)My kids walk in (ages 12 & 14) look at it and both say, "Mom, what is that thing?" Yeah, I guess that was more embarrassing than funny.LOL. Thanks for the AWESOME opportunity!!

  12. well i can't resist a chance to win a custom pillow cover. :-)

my most embarrassing moment was when i had to wear a termite costume and walk in a local rodeo parade to advertise my dad's business. i did not want to do it but my mom made me. she made my costume and everything. it was horrendous. here's the pic: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bradyphrenia/1126838612/

  15. Well one of many embarassing things I can remember is when I was a little kid, I thought church was over so I went booting down the middle aisle, only to find out that we were just standing up to sing a song and everyone was staring at me. Don't worry, I got over it. :)

  16. My 5yo was playing with her ponies, making them talk to each other, Suddenly, she rips a very loud, very long fart. Without missing a beat, she makes one pony say "What was that loud noise?". The other pony replied "I don't know, we should check it out.".

  17. Let me preface this with, I am 26 weeks pregnant.

So, we were out walking my dog over the weekend and my husband started making me laugh and we are about 10 blocks from the house and he got me laughing so hard that I peed my pants. The story that he was telling me was really funny though.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I wouldn't call myself a traditional lover of pink; but in looking at my fabric stash...I have alot of it.

Thanks for offering a giveaway today.

Whenever I think of most embarassing stories, I always remember in 3rd grade when I wasn't feeling very well. Being the good student that I was, I raised my hand so the teacher would call on me. I waited and waited and waited; but she was occupied. Finally, I "broke" the rules and got up out of my seat to tell her that I felt sick and needed to go to the nurse...only by the time that I reached her desk, I "threw up" all over her. It was horrible.

  19. Love this fabric! Thanks for a great giveaway! Funny oops-first time I sewed pants for my daughter, i sewed the front of the legs together and the back together creating 2 very different sized legs! I can laugh now...

  23. That is a GREAT giveaway -- I remember when Jacey did the custom pillow -- I was bummed not to win :) How fun! I'm afraid my most embarassing moment is too long of a tale for a comment! But it did get retold by my sister at my wedding this past fall, so I got to relive the embarassment in front of all my guests! (luckily it was more funny than embarassing)

  24. witnessed embarassment: a little girl was shouting to everyone in the store that she "pooped in the potty!" Embarrassed was the parent not the little girl.

  25. This one is pretty disgusting, but my second most embarrassing moment is pretty disgusting too, so here goes! I was invited to a scholarship dinner in college, because I had received a four year scholarship sponsored by one of our United States Representatives. Since he was supposedly going to show up, they pretty much forced me to go.

I had a horrible migraine the night of the dinner, but I went anyway, because you can't stand up a congressman! He actually never showed up and about halfway through I got physically ill. Since the dinner was on the basketball court I had a long walk to go and I got sick in front of EVERYONE! I ran out so fast and got sick again in the hallway and again outside in front of the entire band that was making their way in. I'm talking projectile spaghetti. ABSOLUTELY MORTIFIED!!!!!!

I am *so* glad the representative didn't show up!

  26. Love the fabric - most embarrassing recent snafu, lined up my sleeve thinking i had matched the pattern perfectly, stitched it with the size 2 stitches, turned it around and there it was in the wrong direction :(

    ReplyDelete
  27. What a gorgeous pile of loot! =)

I think one of the most embarassing things that ever happened to me was when I was about 15...I had gone to the mall around Christmas with my Mom, but was feeling very ill...on my way to the bathroom, up the escalator, through the food court, I couldn't hold it anymore...I vomited there all over the floor in front of everyone eating. Oh gosh, that was very unpleasant and I felt so bad. =( I'm only glad I didn't know anyone!

Thanks for a chance to win!

  28. Cam, from Modern Family, made that comment. =)

  29. My most embarrassing moment was during our high school graduation ceremony. We had to walk down a flight of stairs to get to our sunken gym, and I fell down, dragging down about 7 of my classmates. The worst part was I was young, and since I was wearing a clingy dress, I didn't want panty lines, so I went commando....yup. I am still mortified....

  30. I cant think of anything embarassing. The one thing I can remember is i dropped a pad in the hallway from my locker when i was in high school. At the time that was embarassing

  31. So when my husband and I were still dating we went to this water park! I wanted to try the surfing thing. You know the one where they force water over this wave like plastic and your supposed to be able to ride a boogie board on it! Yeah well my time came and the guy held the board so I could get on it and as soon as he let go the board flew behind me making me go face first in the rushing water!! Well I finally get my footing and stand up look down and realize the rushing water had pushed my bathing suit down and my boob was hanging out! My husband/boyfriend at the time looked at me real fast then quickly looked up at the sky as if he was bird watching or something!! Needless to say we still laugh about it today. More of the bird watching move that the actual boob show! We saw about 4 or 5 boobs that day and as you would know that was the favorite hangout for boys/men!!

  34. Yes, yes, pick me!! LOL Oh how I love those fabrics and zip, and I think your pillows are awesome! But you knew that. I didn't know that Cameron said that, but now I do, because I googled it! Heehee! Thanks for the chance to win!

  35. Most embarrassing? I wandered up to the bride, groom, and their parents and started giving hugs (not realizing there was a receiving line of lots of guests waiting...and watching my blunder). Oops.
    ;)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hmmm...just recently, or way back? I'm a champ at making an arse of myself! LOL I think it would have to be one time when I was talking to a foreign business associate, and I'm not sure what they thought I said, but from the look on their face I did some fast re-wording of my comment!

  37. When I was about 12 weeks pregnant, my husband was out of town working (so thankfully I was alone when this catastrophe occurred). I live in Mississippi and it had snowed. Rare occurrence here. So I was outside, bundled up, playing in the snow. I suddenly realize I am about to pee in my pants. So I rush inside, falling on my face in the snow, and realize I also have to throw up. So.... I stood there for .2 seconds trying to decide what to do first, when I simultaneously threw up on the floor & wet my pants. Not necessarily embarrassing because there were no witnesses, but funny none the less.

  38. Joke from my daughter: A blond says to the salesman" I want to by this TV"
Salesman: We cant sell this TV to blonds
Blond goes home, dyes her hair, and goes back to the store. She tells the salesman "I want to buy this TV.
Salesman says: I'm sorry we cant sell this TV to blonds.
So she goes home to change her hair color, goes back to the store and says again "I want to buy this TV"
Salesman: We can't sell this TV to blonds.
Blond: How did you know I'm a blond?
Salesman: Because this is a microwave

  39. most embarrassing moment, years ago in my night clubbing days, I was out the night before, came home late and took my leather trousers (yes those were the days) off. Next day I woke up late, got dressed real quick, was singing at mass in the choir, when mass was finished, one of the guys in the choir asked "what's that at the bottom of your trousers (the leather ones)? Turned out it was my lacy underwear from the night before. I hope nobody else noticed it but I went bright red.

  41. Cameron!

I recently approached a mom at my son's kindergarten class at a function, and somewhat loudly told her how much my son likes her kid, the fun things they do, and how her kid is invited to his party but I can't really afford to invite the other kids. Of course, it wasn't that kid's mom! She let me ramble for a good two minutes with a smirk on her face. Witch. haha. I was mortified.

  43. My most embarrassing moment... last new years I made the resolution to get in shape. January third I hit the gym and do my normal 20 minutes on the elliptical. Well, I guess I was WAY more out of shape than I thought because I finish the routine and immediately faint and fall from the elliptical all the way down to the floor, hitting the machine next to me as I go. I wake up to find tons of fellow gym members huddled around me in concern, and then I realize that in fainting I had also peed myself. And since that wasn't embarrassing enough, I had torn something in my shoulder and had to be carried out on a stretcher by the paramedics. Needless to say that was the end of that resolution, since I could never show my face in the gym again.

  45. Um, orangutans don't have butt cracks.

Oh! I got it! One time in high school we were all sitting around listening to some guy (Tom) and I was on the end and my friend Mike was trying to make me laugh but I was trying not to so when I finally barely snorted a little, along with my laughter a giant snot bubble came out of my nose. Mike was the only one who saw it but I ran to the bathroom to blow my nose and Tom bust in wanting to know what happened because Mike couldn't stop laughing long enough to say anything.

  46. Interesting, I totally would have thought the pink quote came from a Project Runway contestant hehe.

One day, I decided on the spur of the moment to shave my head (it was hot out, and my hair was long...) Since I had a public facing job, I spent the next couple of months being called 'sir' by customers, and then having them realize their mistake, which was really embarrassing for both of us.

  47. I stuffed a giant piece of spicy tuna roll into my mouth at a work dinner and quickly realized that it was too big to manage. After trying to politely chew this massive mouthful for a few minutes, I realized that I was actually choking and could no longer breathe. At this point, I jumped up from the table, knocked over an elderly nurse and stood in front of an ER doctor (yes, this was a work dinner all with ER staff--thank goodness!) making the choking gesture and turned around so he could perform the Heimlich. He did, the sushi popped out and I caught it midair in my napkin. I then silently sat back down and took a very shaky sip of wine. This all happened so quickly that nobody at the table (including my fiancee) had realized what had happened other than me and the doctor who saved me. The most embarrassing thing for me is not that I choked, but that I HID THE SUSHI afterwards. Who does that?

  48. Just recently I was texting my niece a recipe and the auto correct changed the last ingredient to something really inappropriate!!!! After the initial embarrassment we laughed really really hard!!!

  49. I definitely love pink. All things pink. Pink pink pink! What a super giveaway. Thanks so much! The thing I remember that embarasses me now (but not then, although my mother was scandalized), was one Christmas when I was about 12 (definitely old enough to know better), I was acolyting in our church at Midnight Mass. This meant I was sitting up at the front of the church with the priest where everyone could see me. At some point I decided my feet were hot, so I took off my shoes and socks and just put my shoes back on, leaving my socks up there in a little pile. My mother was horrified.

  50. embarrassing - commuting into boston on train in "july" and having male passenger behind me, whisper in my ear "merry christmas to you too sweetie". raised my eyebrow. realizing one could see thru the pants i wore that day; the "merry christmas" underwear showing. seeing that same male passenger on the way home, smiling ear to ear....priceless

  54. I was trying out for a fashion show in high school and it was my turn to walk across the gym floor to show my moooves. I walked out and was struttin' my stuff when I felt something in my pant leg. I shook it a bit and carried on to do my ever-so-practiced turn when I saw that my undies were lying on the floor. Turns out that when I was getting undressed to put my p.j's on I just pulled everything down and forgot about them. I casually stopped and picked them up and carried on. I got into the fashion show and made my friends giggle for weeks.

  60. Most embarrassing moment: In the airport with my then 2 year old and 4 year old. We all head to the bathroom and since it's just me with them, they come in with me. It just happened to be that time of the month and things needed to be changed :0 They were (loudly) asking all kinds of questions. Got a few snickers from the person in the stall next to us :)
Anyway, awesome fabrics. Thanks for the chance!

  61. My most embarrassing moment was back when I was in first grade. We all wore dresses to school back then you know. I was a tomboy type and climbed this pole, slid down and landed right on top of the head of this boy in class. covering him up with my full skirt. Just glad I was young when this happened and not a teenager. LOL

  63. One of my most embarrassing moments was when I was pregnant with my third child. I was going into the store with my girls and I slipped in between two cars. Ummm, my belly wouldn't fit. I got stuck and couldn't get out. It took a bunch of wiggling and grunting to get that belly unstuck.

  64. most embarrassing - getting a high heel stuck in the grates on the sidewalk of nyc.. it really happens! stud, lurch, people staring, the possibility of walking barefoot! ah!

  65. I actually had a rather embarrassing moment this morning when I linked my Sew Mama Sew giveaway incorrectly. The link was broke and ya, it just happened to be the first giveaway in the Sewing Supplies section. I tried to fix it but it wouldn't let me. So I created a new link which worked (Yippee Skippee) and emailed Sew Mama Sew to delete the other one. And then nothing. Oh the horrors. I have literally felt sick to my stomach all morning. Luckily, I just check and someone deleted the bad one. Huge sigh of relief. How dumb do you have to be to mess up a simple linky :)

  66. Most embarassing moment: Probably when cotton balls (I was using to keep my bra straps from rubbing my sunburned chest) came raining out of my shirt onto the floor during show choir practice one day. Ha.

    Thanks so much!

  69. Okay, just the other day I had to run out of the house for a "sewing emergency" because I cut out an entire pajama top upside down. Luckily the shop was still open and the fabric still in stock so I was feeling better by the time I got home. But when I told my husband what had happened he asked "isn't that, like, the third time you've done that?" Why yes it is, and I just started sewing a few months ago! If I had my own craft space (instead of the dining room) I'd hang the mistakes on the wall as a reminder...

  70. the first moment i remember of being tremendously embarrassed (and many more would follow) was worst. i was about four years old, and swinging in the two-person swing with another little girl whose mother had brought her to our house. she told me her name was kathy.

i said, pumping my legs on the swing and smiling, 'good thing your name isn't kathLEEN! that sounds like cafFEINE!'

her face fell and she told me her given name WAS kathleen. she just went by kathy.

  71. I have many embarrassing moments- just one of those lucky people! The first one that came to mind was when I was grocery shopping with my 2 children with one on the way and the oldest- my 4 year old son- disappeared while I was bending down to pick out the cheese I wanted. I checked the isles and the cart area and then went up to clerk to ask her for some help. She called the back and sent several people out to look for him.I started toward the back of the store wear I had last seen him and noticed one of the ladies waving at me. My first thought was thankfulness that they must have found him...then I noticed there were large balls rolling down the isle and more coming. I then saw that there was someone fishing him out of the ball bin! He had crawled in and gotten stuck. :P I think most of my embarrassing moments involve my son!

  72. My most embarassing moment- I was at Target getting tampons for my "time of the month". My three year old got hold of the box in the cart, and started opening it and handed me a unwrapped tampon, out of its applicator. She then yelled "That is for your vagina blood, mom" I quickly paid and left, but not without her telling every person we came in earshot of about my "vagina blood". It made me wish I would have told her "it" was called a nose.

  74. I'm not sure that it's the most embarrassing, but the first one that popped into my head:

I went to lunch with my work supervisor at a crowded restaurant, and since I talk with my hands, gestured my diet coke right into my lap. I was at least glad that my work pants were fast-drying. And I handled myself pretty well. I think my exact words were, "well, this is awkward..."

You know I love pillows, Nicke! And Peacock Lane is such a fun line. Oh, and you can copy me anytime, friend!

Last comment, my word verification is "swapho". Awesome.

  76. Embarrassing moment...so our family referred to nursing (breastfeeding) as 'the baby wants boobs.' Only problem was that the baby started scremaing I want boobs! When she wanted them. So here I was with a 16 mo old baby who is screaming in church I want Boobs! Over and over and over. Luckily she weaned herself soon after that, but it was pretty mortifying.

  79. most embarassing moment - I think it would be when I was in grade 6 - it was only my second year speaking french and I was in an all french school, we were all doing a project at our desks and I had NO idea what some words meant so I asked my neighbor and the teacher herad me and shouted at me in frnch that i was cheating - but I didn't know what he was saying - he thought I was being sassy and so was saying it louder and louder - pretty sure the kids a room over heard him and making me feel soooo dumb finally another boy in class felt bad for me and said in english what he was saying and I was mortified. Turned bright red - I hadn't realized we weren't to ask neighbors for help - it wasn't even for marks. or it would be with that same teacher and my period started at the end of the school year and he refused to let me go to the washroom - despite my begging and I bled through onto my pants :( I had to go home at recess to change and my mom didn't make me go back.

  80. I can't think of a really good one- I must block them from memory or something. But last week my new in-laws dropped by unexpectedly to my chaotic, half-decorated house with Christmas crafting taking over the living room and quilt basting taking over the dining room, and oops I haven't done dishes in a few days so I didn't even have clean cups to offer them coffee in. Since then my spouse has gotten repeated invitations to dinner at home. kcarlson1152[at]hotmail.com

She asked me what all those cars were doing down on the ground. I told her that it was the highway. she looked at me funny and said, "Don't you mean the 'low-way'?" Gotta love the way her little brain thinks! Modern Family is a funny show, by the way!

  110. I'm pretty much a spaz, so my life is one big embarrassing story. And I'm a Pollack to boot! This August I was all about trying to have a natural VBAC for the birth of my second son. I was going to be that stoic peaceful woman giving birth. Fast forward to me in the elevator, in a wheel chair, leaking my water, moaning like a dying animal and telling my husband (in front of an elevator full of people)that he'd better get me an epidural or hit me in the head with something hard, NOW! Not my more ladylike moment.:p

  111. Wow, great prizes!

Once at leadership camp back in high school, I woke up in the middle of the night and I was sleeping on a bottom bunk but it was so dark and I sort of forgot where I was before fully waking up, I sat right up and smashed my nose off of a beam on the bottom bunk. I literally saw stars in the dark and the next day I had a big red scrape right between my eyes and everyone was asking what happened. I felt really dumb.

  117. Ok here we go! Well this is embarassing as my family won't let it go!

When we get together for dinner (my parents and all the siblings) we are quite a number! So it gets really loud, I mean REALLY loud! So often you need to repeat pass the whatever a thousand times before someone hears you and passes what you need. So with that I really wanted my Mom's homemade coleslaw that was near my Dad so I asked for it, then asked another 2 times - still no one heard me, so I start to ask a 4th time and as it is coming out of my mouth, the whole table goes quite and all you hear (along with crickets) is "PASS THE COLESLAW!!!!). Needless to say the whole table about died of laughter, and whenever we meet and the table is getting loud, this story comes up and my Mother just about pees her pants! Thanks Mom! *grumble*!

I was horrified but could barely contain my giggles. Fortunately I think the client also found it incredibly amusing and imagine that, like me, she was laughing her head off as soon as I left. I had to sit in my car for 15 minutes before I was composed enough to drive.

So, 14 year old me, outside playing with my younger sister, standing totally still, turn around, somehow fall to the ground and yep, broke my ankle. I seriously broke my ankle, standing. How's that for clumsy? I had to wear a cast (to my knee bc of torn ligaments) for 8 weeks! 8 WEEKS in a cast because I fell down, standing. SO awful! I had to miss out on all the 8th grade graduation events (dance, trip, etc) and had to go to high school registration on crutches! Ick!

  141. One embarrassing moment for me was when I went back to college as a 40 something. The professor was talking about everyone wearing a halloween costume. I wanted to fit in to a certain extent as I normally am very reserved and wouldn't do a costume. I was the only one in a costume. It took them most of the class to figure out who I was. I went as a gangster-wore a padded pin stripe suit with mask and gun-the works. I am tall so they weren't sure if I was a man or a woman. They told me afterwards that it is lame to wear costumes to school.

  142. My cringe-worthy moment: All the family was coming to my home for Thanksgiving that year, and at the last moment my sister called to tell him her in-laws were coming to town, and would be along, too. I was already a bit stressed, trying to make everything Martha Stewart perfect, and the news that people were coming I barely knew, and who I didn't really warm up to when I did see them, made me say something unkind where my 5-year-old could hear. Thanksgiving Day, while everyone was chatting before dinner, my precious child went up to Mrs. In-Law, tilt her head cutely, and inquire, loudly, if Mom had invited her, or did she invite herself. The room went silent. As there was no way to redeem the situation, I went for distraction, and announced dinner was ready, with a bright smile. My whole family still tells this story, 15 years later. Sigh.

  143. omg. I was almost going to say I couldn't think of anything embarassing. And then I did. I was on a family vacation in Punta Cana, arriving around 8pm. We had a late dinner & went to bed. I felt sick. My hubby said I couldn't be yet, we just got there. I slept with a bucket beside me but made it through the night, until morning. I bolted out of bed in one of those "have to make it to the toilet!" moments. I did. Trouble was that my husband was SITTING on the toilet. Um, yeah, I was not expecting that & it was too late for me to do anything about it. So, after a shower, a cry & a laugh (my hubby was SO good about it & made me feel better) everything was well.
We go down to the pool & I hear my sister laughing her head off...he had told her. omg. I didn't think I had to tell him it was too soon for stories! haha I wonder if the rest of my family has ever heard that story...ah, my sis prob told them all that day ;)
On the plus side, he totally takes me seriously when I say I feel like I might puke. And he refers to the incident as "so rockstar" hehe

10th grade - - caught my jeans on a locker hook while running top speed.

Jeans tear from waist to knee.

Gym shorts are barely legal & I haven't shaved my legs in a week.

    Major high school embarrassment. ;)

  162. OK as a grandma I am loving the things my 4 year old GS does to embarrass his mama (my daughter.) Call it payback. BUT I took him and his mother swimming at the military base pool this summer and they have 2 slides. A small one for kids and a large one for adults. He wanted to go on the large slide so she told him it was broken. He was content until he stayed with me in the shallow end to watch his mama slide from the deep end. She used the large slide. At the top of his lungs (incredibly loud for a 4 yr old) he screamed... without any editing!!... "Mama! You F*@%ed up!!! That one's broken!" Grandma wanted to drown herself.
