pillows sent and one received...

for the sew mama sew giveaway i offered up a custom made pillow cover and ended up giving two away.

 i used piping.

 and some invisible zippers...

they don't scare me at all anymore.

easy peasy! 

 i decided on purple and grey and made two.

 i hand quilted the one on the right and did a bit of machine quilting on it also.

i like how it turned out.

started to machine quilt the one on the left and i didn't like it so i ripped it out.

  then i tried hand stitching and i didn't like it.  

i really just loved it plain.  

so plain it stayed.

because there are two, i am not going to tell you which was for who...

one went to Lynz and the other to Bonnie.

Bonnie got hers already but beause Lynz lives across the world from me she will have to wait and see which one lands on her doorstep. because i am not going to spoil the surprise, too much.

gifts galore...

so, you may remember a while ago i posted about a collaboration quilt us wonky girls made for Melissa.

well... we were at it again for jessica... 

and this is the finished product.

and the back.

i really loved putting this together for her with blocks from sara, jacey and melissa.

i asked them to make me scrappy improv blocks in no specific size and they did not disappoint.

 if you click on the above picture and then squint a little you can see the binding.  i was so excited to try out rachel's zig-zag binding... and it would have been awesome if i hadn't ran out of blue and then green thread...
still, i loved how it looked and will be doing it more.

i wish i would have taken pictures of all of the blocks before i pieced them together.  

they were a miss mash of colors and sizes and it was awesome.  

big ones small ones long ones short ones.

it was like putting a very pretty puzzle together. 

and because i was so intent on finishing, i forgot to make a super sweet label like sara did for melissa's quilt so i whipped out my handy dandy fine tipped permanent marker and made a mark...

the producitivity continues....

baby quilt finished... still a cryptic photo so that the surprise isn't spoiled...

in the mail today to it's new owner!

also finished one and a half pillows this weekend too!  

they are also gifts and will be headed out tomorrow!  

i promise to share a bit of them when they arrive at their destinations.

so i have accomplished my one thing one week challenge at amy's creative side.

productivity.

i was super productive this week.  

i made my first texas star... just for fun.

those y seams that were intimidating me were, 

NO BIG DEAL!

they were no match for my superior sewing skills.

  i got this in the bee a {modern} swapper swap.

i love the pouch.  it is huge!  and the extras are awesome!  scissors and pins!  love it.

 i started and finished my February blocks for the wonky bee, yes i started them on leap day and finished them on the 1st... they are going in the mail today...  it was melissas month.  she gave us free reign on what to make but just asked for red, aqua and was going for a wall quilt that somewhat resembled this

and this is what she got from me.  i took the pictures last night so the coloring is a little off.  i used american jane fabrics and as i reallly love the star i wish i would have added another color or two into the block just for variety.  i used this pattern/template and paper pieced it.  it was really fun.

 and then i made this little guy.  i wanted to make something a little crazy, a little fun... success!  that one side is a little big but i think it just adds to the crazy.  

i really don't think they could be more different!

 and... i have done a bit more stitching.  it is coming along.

so, all in all.  a pretty productive week.

and i am trying to hold onto my productive bone.

i am planning on making one of these pillows this weekend.

and a couple of these...

can't wait to use my serger to make 4 of these with this new fabric. 

going to machine bind this.
