Day one of thankful week!

Today i am thankful for conspirators..

remember these blocks?

well they, with blocks from jacey and sara, became this...

Collaboration Quilt
sara emailed us wonky girls a few months ago while the wonky bee was winding down asking us if we were interested in making something awesome for our pregnant members...  of course we said yes.
we decided we would all make a few 8 inch blocks and would send them all to sara to put it together.
she did an amazing job on this quilt!  and she made faux piping on the binding...  brilliant!  such a great addition to an already perfect quilt.

it went to melissa.
Wonky Baby Quilt
do you see that piping... so cute...

isn't melissa's daughter adorable snuggling under it?
seriously, adorable!
Wonky Baby Quilt
the back of the quilt is just as cute as the front.
Collaboration Quilt
and my favorite part of the whole thing...
the label.
she traced our names from the notes we had sent to her and embroidered it to the label.
aaaaawwwwweeeee.  i love it.
it makes me happy!
Wonky Baby Quilt Label
so... to my fellow conspirators... i am thankful for you!  this was super fun and i am excited for more conspiring...

the reason for my absence and lack of wip progress...

ahhhhh....
it has been too long friends.
i have a good reason though.
we spent last week/weekend in oregon with our family.
and we went to the beach.
it was the first time miss S and mr. H experienced the sea.
it had been four years since i had seen it last.
waaaay too long.
i won't let that happen again.
 it was wonderful.
they loved it.
they couldn't stop digging in and throwing sand.
we possibly got our christmas picture.
i loved spending time with this girl and her husband, who i amazingly did not get a single picture of.  sorry josh!  i am terrible!
this is my sister in law whitney.
i love her.
she is my sister from another mister.
she is so fun.
i miss her...
side note... it took us three times to get a good self pic that we were happy with.  i still crack up thinking about it.
this little guy had the best time.  he loved piling sand on spencer.
he didn't stop digging the whole time.
and that tongue.
i die.
this little lady just ran and ran and ran.
i totally love her.
it was fun to run with her.

and now, my report...
i am happy happy to say i have FINALLY begun the hand quilting.
i love it.
it looks good.
i will prove it in a couple days.

i received my pouch from the plp swap...
it is perfect for a little snack lunch and sooo cute.

my partner received her pouch and she loved it too.
Lynne said.
Thank you soooo much! I love it! I really like that simple/less fussy style of embroidery but don't do it as I have never really mastered it. You are great at it! I love having my name on the pouch and then those little flowers. The pouch made of those great fabrics ...the little goodies to get me started on something new...Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Lynne
i am so happy she loves it.  it warms the cockles of my heart!

i have been helping a friend...
she has cancer.  not fair.
she is an amazing sewer, seamstress.
i am learning from her...
soaking in all i can.
it makes me happy.

i finished another swoon block...
no pictures yet.
only three more to sew.
i am moving so slow on these.
i will be better.

P{L}P swap...

i was sooo excited when round 3 of the Pretty little Pouch swap was announced on flickr.
i missed the second round and was bummed but totally was #2 or #3 to sign up this round.
like i said, i was excited!

this was my mosaic...
can you tell i like linen?

Pretty little pouch mosiac, a photo by xx Nicke on Flickr.

and this is what i made for my partner. finished it up last night.
nothing like waiting until there are three days left.
although, it would have been finished last week but, i was stuck.
i knew what i wanted to embroider on the back of the pouch but couldn't find it.
honestly thank heavens for jacey...
her strike of genus overcame my stupidity and i knew where to find the perfect thing to stitch on the back!
it was in my inbox... in my email... in my flickrmail... duh!

all that time i spent searching her blog and flickr...
head smack!
but it was worth it, i really hope she likes it.
.
and what did i embroider on the back of her pouch you ask???
her name...
of course i can't show it.  but please know, it looks really cute.
honestly i probably could show it, i am sure she doesn't follow me...
yet. ;)
this was a really fun swap.
it was fun to see all of the new pouches popping up in flickr and thinking...
oh please let that be for me!
i have to admit, i did get a bit discouraged.
but, i plowed through and it was fun to create something for someone else.
really hope she likes it.
i didn't follow her mosaic very closely,
sometimes i just let the fabric decide.
although, she does like embroidery.
embroidery...check.

Bloggers Quilt Festival....for captain.

Amy Ellis is at it again that crazy minx.
Bloggers quilt festival is upon us.
well, it is almost over!

Amy'sCreativeSide

Captain needed a sweet quilt.
and since he lives far far away i wanted him to have something that i made.
from me. from us.
something that would make him warm
something that i would pour all of my love and happy thoughts into just for him.
so that when he is wrapped up in it, even though we are not near him, he can feel our love for him.
and someday, when he lives next door to me,
i will pour all my love and happy thoughts into cookies just for him.  ;)
but until then, he will have to settle for this.

he was such a small little baby.  that block measured 12" if i remember correctly.!  and who can resist a small little baby on a super cute quilt.
not me!
it is so bright and cheery.
i hope it makes him happy every time he uses it!
the random straight lines were a breeze to quilt even with the bright green minkee fabric on the back!
and now look at him.  he is soo big.  those hazel brown eyes are hypnotizing!
this i why i am linking up to the bloggers quilt festival.  honestly... this kid and this quilt are too cute to not share!

so click on over and die at the amazing creations... there are like almost 600!
